Growl Origin: Old French grouler "to rumble"

(v) Using a deep guttural sound to convey emotion. Going beyond words

(n) An effect, resembling a growl, used by wind players in jazz.

We compose, arrange and produce music for film, TV, advertisements, and audio branding.

  • At Growl, we can help you enhance the emotional connection to your audience with bespoke original music composition, soundscapes or special arrangements of existing music. We have a wealth of experience across all genres from large scale orchestral scores and big band jazz music to pop, rock and ambient scores.

  • Based at Ireland's foremost recording studio Camden Recording Studios in the heart of Dublin, Growl have the best in modern and vintage recording equipment, a wealth of instruments at our fingertips, and an endless contact list of world class musicians, specialist players and experienced studio technicians.

THE TEAM

Growl was founded by two of the UK and Ireland's top musicians and composers, Ben Castle and Cian Boylan. They bring 25 years of experience to Growl and a deep versatility across a mutlitude of musical styles.

Cian Boylan

Cian Boylan is recognised as one of Ireland's leading pianists, arrangers and producers. From lush pop string arrangements to symphonic scores, jazz combos and big band arrangements, Cian's versatility as a composer, producer, arranger, songwriter and performer has enabled him to work across many genres for a huge array of exciting projects and world-famous stars. He is a founder and co-owner of Camden Recording Studios in Dublin with Bressie and Niall Horan.

Ben Castle

Ben is an award-winning and versatile composer, songwriter, arranger and saxophone/clarinet/flute player. He has released various albums with his own bands. The latest offering is with The Tombola Theory, who play original 1930s traditional jazz-inspired pop music, described by Jamie Cullum as “Punk Trad” on his BBC radio show. As well creating his own music, he has also worked with many legends of the music industry.

OUR STUDIOS

Located in the heart of Dublin’s lively music and cafe district, Camden street, this historic studio has played host to a multitude of international and domestic recording stars.

Camden Studios houses three different sized studios fit for a variety of purposes from songwriting, pre-production to recording, mixing and mastering. It also features a composing room, and a chill-out area including a living space, kitchen, shower and bathroom facilities.
